Studio.News. 02.23: Cheers to the New Year

It’s mid-February and the California rain clouds have parted, which means one thing…it’s shooting weather!

This week I had to be on site for a shoot at 5am to capture the early, EARLY morning light. It was dark and COLD and I could hear my bed calling from the hotel… until the first streaks of light hit the sky. That pre-dawn blue reflecting off glass is one of my favorite colors.

As I clicked, I thought about how this year feels different. There’s a spring in my step. I feel energized and excited. Maybe it’s the intermittent fasting (emphasis on intermittent), or that I’ve swapped out my Monster energy drinks with coffee (here’s to not having a heart attack before 50)…

But I think it’s because the clouds of the pandemic have also finally parted. Clients are coming to the shoots and we get to shake hands and hug and hang out again.

I didn’t realize how much I appreciated that aspect of my job until it was gone.

My first love will always be getting the perfect shot, but I genuinely value the onsite conversation and collaboration. I missed seeing you all!

So here’s to more shoots (even the pre-dawn ones) and seeing more of you this year.
