Product photography is like shooting puzzle pieces that belong to a larger picture. The focus has to be on a specific item, showing form, function and materials within the context of a whole space. In one case, the challenge was to photograph wall-to-ceiling glass panels that fold, slide, wrap around corners, and are used in myriad ways to separate outside space from inside space and to delineate areas inside a structure. The question was how to portray the flexibility of the wall system. Capturing reflections, a play of light, and the forms of people passing through—all of these elements contributed to visually characterizing the uniqueness of this particular product.
