Take a peek inside the Unispace Showroom where the Sydney based interior design firm, famous for office design, has taken on a redesign of their own. An activity-based office located in Los Angeles’ Financial District, relieves employees of assigned seating, tall desk barriers or longing for the corner office. At Unispace LA, there is only room for start-to-finish interconnectivity. Everyone from designers to project managers work together at one communal desk – so grab a chair, its collaboration time!
Lawrence Anderson Photography had the pleasure to photograph Unispace’s design-build capabilities. After all, they design so many impressive corporate interiors; it was their chance to show off!
We were amazed at the unified desk that wrapped around from reception into the primary room, and we made sure to photograph this space in prime collaboration mode. We filled the room with the Unispace employees and soon enough we had a very hip Social Space. To optimize the lighting in the room we used over 30ft of black plastic over the wall-to-wall glass façade to block out any reflections in our shots. For setting up and reorganizing the space, we had our assistants do some clean up but everything was already so tidy! After shooting, I was feeling quite old after talking to these talented young professionals – but only especially when they beat me at Mario Kart in the lounge area!
As we work with more and more remarkable corporate interiors, I am reminded of the importance in designing an office for success. We admired the incredible light that the glass façade gave the office, providing employees with an incredible view of downtown and the famous Mark Di Suvero, 45-foot vivid red sculpture – what an inspiration! The team at Unispace has clearly done an amazing job with creating an original space for harnessing creativity.
A special thanks to studio director Carlos Carrasquillo and senior interior designer Allyson Campbell to help ensure we captured the energy and innovation they built into this office. I was honored to photograph a place of such sheer collaboration and inventive ideas. As an architectural photographer it is always great to meet the talent behind the finished product. Thanks Unispace, job well done!
